I really liked the doc

I thought the doc was great. Obviously very sad but a lovely portrait and interesting dynamics between Reuben’s and the filmmaker.

I'm excited for people to read the book, and would love to give talks or visit your classroom this year if you're interested in teaching it.

It's not all fun, games, and secret words (ahhhhhh!!!) though. In the book I read the playhouse as an otherwise space indelibly refracted through Paul Reubens' queer and AIDS-phobic 1991 arrest in an adult movie theatre.

This is a book I've always wanted to write because I think Pee-wee Herman still matters deeply to queer folks, as an icon, a site of identification, a source of wild play and joy, and an architect of the playhouse of my (our) collective dreaming.
