THE CARETAKERS (War Graves gardeners in the French Resistance) https://www.globepequot.com/9781633888999/the-caretakers/
A cop accidentally fired a gun in a bathroom at our high school last year (no one was injured, thank goodness).

It was literally preferable in some school districts to imply the Roanoke settlers all starved to death, were murdered, or sucked up by UFO tractor beams than to acknowledge a local tribe went "Dang, dude. You need a hand? Come sit by the fire. BTW I think my sister likes u."

That is wild! Probably it happens with other uncommon words due to tech glitches, but it would make a fun addition to a modern urban fantasy or Robin Sloan-type novel 📖

Is it good or bad that my searches for "the fae" and "the fey" on British Newspaper Archives is mostly returning results for margin blotches that lurk beyond the boundaries of human language

The NYTimes had an article about Trump's NEH earlier this week, but it didn't mention specifics about the sculpture garden grants being awarded.

Candido Jacuzzi, one of the seven Jacuzzi brothers, had a child with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kenneth.

The juvenile arthritis limited Ken's mobility, caused him pain, prevented full development in his limbs.

Candido noticed the relief Ken got from hydrotherapy at his rheumatologist...

As for Ken, he worked at the family company, using his success to be an advocate for the disability community, passing away at age 75 in 2017.

A lovely story of immigrants, a father's love, a little innovation.

It's as relaxing as a ... big tub full of warm water with bubbles in it?
In Memoriam: Ken Jacuzzi
As a boy diagnosed with a debilitating condition, Ken Jacuzzi was the inspiration for the modern day hot tub. As an adult, he rose to prominence as an advocate for the disabled.

In fairness to the author, my wife was also doing the voices, so that may have contributed to the absurdity

Thank you for this. I haven't thought about this book in years. In 2005, my wife and I drove from Rhode Island to California, and this was the book she read aloud to me while I drove. I think we reached the climax somewhere around Utah, and I laughed so hard (while driving) she feared for our lives.
