One of those perfect days. Several times almost moved to tears by the beauty.

Always interesting to catch up with what Mountaineering Scotland have been up to. Read their annual report here.

So thrilled and moved to receive this for my birthday. It's a lovely piece of art in its own right, but especially important to me because I've known Corrour Bothy for almost 60 years and been privileged to help look after it for almost 20.

Great weekend at Corrour Bothy in the #Cairngorms, preparing the toilet storage area for waste removal and doing maintenance work on the toilet. Thanks to a great crew of volunteers for all their hard work.

Note to self: when removing a grapefruit-sized wasp nest from the tight confines of a bothy toilet, don't assume that because it looks damaged there are no wasps there.
...
There were.😬
...
And quite upset as it turned out.

Seems it's six years since I was last at the Barns of Bynack in the #Cairngorms. Always worth another trip though @frankhennessy.bsky.social

It was one of those days that was an absolute delight from start to finish. The landscape, the flowers, the peregrine encounter and even a mountain rescue fly-past... A cracking day in the Cairngorms!

@wildflowerhour.bsky.social Some starry saxifrage. Not a great pic, but a rather too sensational situation which required concentration not to fall off, so please excuse.

A skyline walk has a particular satisfaction. Started up Ben Starav to see if I still could and just kept going, to go over Glas Bheinn Mhor and (out of sight to the left) Stob Coir' an Albannaich. A magical day, but, oh my, have my legs paid the price!

After a damp Saturday the weekend was looking a washout - until I decided to go home over Sgor Dubh instead of round it.

Ah, the Cairngorms. You don't even need to be high up to have a great wander. Walked between Loch Malachie and Loch Gartan in last week's sunny weather, enjoying the cool shade of the trees.

It's taken me shamefully long to get round to reading this absolute gem. Between a Rock & a Hard Place, by Davy Gunn, mountaineer and rescuer. What a life!
A fault? Far too short - could have been twice as long. I just wanted to keep reading his stories.

Another great weekend in the Cairngorms with some unorthodox choices of route and a 'backstage' view of some favourite hills.

Just because. This is one of the iconic views of the Cairngorms and I can seldom pass without taking another photo.

Disappearing archaeology. Both pics show cross section of hole dug in Mesolithic & then filled in & buried under peat. Excavated some years ago, it is being eroded by the river & will soon be gone. First pic several days ago, second two years ago.

Now that I've decided to get the Cairngormwanderer blog going again I've added a 'new' bothy - The Redhouse, on the Geldie Burn.

What weather! What a view! I love the #Cairngorms.

You'll have to click onto this and blow it up to pick out the tiny Corrour Bothy, dwarfed by the cliffs of Devil's Point and Beinn Bhrotain beyond. A tiny speck of human presence in the Cairngorms.

Love the rock outcrops on Carn Crom in the #Cairngorms. Nothing very big, but always very scenic.

Too much cloud to be worth getting the camera out? Not a bit of it. The Coire an Fhir Bhoga ridge of Beinn Bhreac, snow showers in Glen Dee and hidden giants beyond the Allt a Carn a Mhaim.

Did you leave an ice axe or a dog harness at #CorrourBothy in the #Cairngorms on or before February 28?
I have both if you'd like to get your property back.

You know it's been a good bothy night when everyone wants their picture taken together in the morning before going their separate ways. I love bothy life. #CorrourBothy #Cairngorms
