The root of the problem is that FICA is regressive with respect to high wages and unearned income, while earnings above the limit are not take into account when determining benefits. So people who don't need the benefits are collecting more than those who do.

While Musk's proposed party would clearly have the wrong ideals, it would be a good thing to help split apart the unholy coalition of oligarchs, christian nationalists, nazis, and simple conservatives that the GOP currently is. Musk's party could be the real spoiler (that Perot's wasn't).
