If you consider yourself a charmer, ask what you do for your community? Does your practice form from a need in the community of a vain need for perceived power? The spirits of these traditions know who is authentic - be authentic.

In this post we see many items geared towards protective practices (silver pennies, elf-arrows, rosary beads). We see the role of the charmer as a protective force against the evil of witchcraft and other malignant spirits (and ails).

The folk healer, charmer, or cunning person would have a variety of tools used within their craft — calling on God, the saints, angels, and sometimes other spirits and devils too. The lowercase ‘d’ in ‘devils’ being an intentional act.

🌲 Juniper: A new addition I created yesterday. This adaptation of the ‘sop seile’ (spittle wisp) from Scottish saining practices which I will use to sprinkle water on people and places for saining.

🐝 Bees: Bees are a beautiful omen for me, and I also work with their spirit a lot. I recently found a 3rd bee thus completing my adaptation of the ‘Three Bees Charm’ to bring joy, happiness, and abundance.

🧿 The Trinkets: I use numerous trinkets and bits in my practice as well. Here we see a silver sixpence (for uisge-airgid), elf arrow, and a quartz rock all for saining. There is also a medal of Mater Dolorosa that I have also used in related charms.

🃏 The Playing Cards: I use playing cards and cartomancy for many acts of healing and blessing (and cursing if I need to😉). From simple blessings of protection, love, and prosperity to road openings and commanding spirits.

🦷 The Deer Teeth: The teeth I keep on me are from a deer skull I own, and serve the purpose of healing the toothache.

🤲 The Prayer Card: I use many prayer cards to many saints and spirits in my trade, but most notably I use this card to Our Lady for healing, giving offerings, and petitioning her, and the Goddess Diana, who I’ve come to syncretise with her in times of need.
