The article cites a recent Ledger poll where 4% of respondents said climate was the #1 issue facing Canada. MLI argues this is because Trudeau “made climate change a top priority, often downgrading other considerations at its expense, particularly economic development and resource exploitation.”

The MLI is an Ottawa-based “independent, nationally-focused think tank” according to their website. Led by Brian Lee Crowley, they provide comment on Canadian public policy, championing oil and gas expansion and resource exploitation. They’re also a member of the right-wing Atlas Network.

Coltsfoot:

Native to Europe, this plant loves gravel and stony areas and is often seen at the edges of car parks. These plants have bright yellow flowers that resemble dandelions.

Dog Strangling Vine:

A priority species for removal in Ontario due to its ability to spread rapidly and difficulty to kill. It can grow to be 4-5 ft, suffocating understory plants and young trees. It can also confuse Monarchs who lay eggs on its leaves, which caterpillars are unable to feed on.

Buckthorn:

Glossy and Common Buckthorn are a massive concern in Ottawa due to aggressive spreading. They are native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia and have veiny leaves with round berries that are enjoyed by birds.
