TMM received an Italian dub in 2004 titled ‘Mew Mew - Amiche Vincenti’ (Translation: Victorious Friends). Similar to the 4kids localization, our heroines received their own respective name changes in this dub.

In the 2002 PS1 game, Ichigo received an “upgraded” transformation scene which altered many aspects of her original design. This game exclusive design from 20 years ago inspired the dress we see in the 2022 reboot.

4kids adapted TMM for an American audience. Renaming it to ‘Mew Mew Power’. Airing from February 19th 2005 to July 2006. Dubbing only 26 episodes. It was heavily censored & localized as many 4kids adaptations were. 4Kids was unable to acquire the license for the remaining 26 episodes of the series.

Concluding our trivia about our PlayStation exclusive character, Ringo Akai. She was given a pendant containing Mew Aqua by her deceased mother. That pendant as well as the DNA from her best friend, Yuki the penguin, allowed her to transform into a Mew Mew after Yuki was turned into a Chimera Anima.

Following the same trend of our main cast using instrument-inspired weapons; our PS1 exclusive character, Mew Ringo, uses 2 maracas canonically called “AppleTick”.
Her attack is “Ribbon Apple Pop!” 🍎✨ She acted as a support and healer in the aforementioned Japanese exclusive RPG released in 2002.

A Japanese only PlayStation 1 game titled “Tojo Shin Mew Mew! – Minna Issho ni Gohoshi Suru Nyan” made its debut December 2002. It was a turn based RPG that introduced a game exclusive character, Ringo Akai. (Name meaning Red Apple 🍎)

Originally written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi, Tokyo Mew Mew went on to see a spin off manga we all know as “Tokyo Mew Mew a La Mode” serialized from April 2003-Feb 2004.
Yoshida did not return to write a La Mode. Ikumi is credited as the writer and illustrator for the spin off.

Our heroines in Tokyo Mew Mew are fused with the DNA of endangered species. Mint Aizawa, fused with the ultramarine blue lorikeet. During the original 2002 airing it was estimated there to be around ~2,400 in population. Fast forward 20 years, it is now critically endangered at around ~1,000-2,000

The Tokyo Mew Mew 2022 reboot gave a much needed breath of life to the outdated line of merchandise we were given during its original anime run in 2002-2003. What a difference 20 years of quality gave us! In order, PS1 game ver by Takara, “Perfect” figure by Takara, and the latest scale by FuRyu.
