I have no doubt that these isomerizations work, however, in my experience, at 500°C in addition to the isomerization product there will be a lot of other products and I would have to go fishing for the one I wanted. This often meant extensive column purifications with no guarantee of success.
Using pasteur pipettes as reaction vessels, researchers successfully confined a small volume of solvent and reactant within Pasteur pipettes, sealing them and heating them up to 500°C by induction heating, microwaves or in a muffle furnace.
