Just a humble artist, storyteller, and translation technician chilling out in his little corner of the interwebs.
I'll go ahead and tackle the rest just to complete the preservation of the series.

Aye, I was aware of the other books, didn't go hunting for the others mainly out of cost and at the time feeling I should tackle them one at the time, however that bundle you linked me is rather tempting to try and nab anyway. Perhaps in the future after tackling "Den lille Havfrue"

So you can guess why I'd be at least a little worried about people not trusting the information I was providing on the Youtube Thread.

called, "Writing in Margins", and what little information they had about the manuscript made me curious enough to track down whether a facsimile was ever published or not.

Have a link!

The Little Mermaid: The Question of Endings
The ending of the original Little Mermaid is famously tragic. However, I was startled to discover that not everyone agrees on what that tragic ending was . There are even rumors that the author, Hans....

Thank you for your trust, just wanted to show the proof anyway due to the internet being... well... ya know... the freaking internet. Some people might doubt this book exists unless they stumble upon it. I had to go out of my way to find it after learning that the manuscript existed from a blog

can always revise it at a later date.

In the meantime, just to show good faith that this book is real and not just a "trust me it is" statement, have some pictures:

Aye, well, here's hoping I find someone eventually. I guess what I can do in the meantime is do what I can and post my result. I always intended for this pdf to have both the original Danish from the book as well as the English Translation, so if I make any errors, someone can contact me and I

Art Thieves most likely on July 22nd, 1992 along with a whole collection of other priceless artifacts... which is probably why there hasn't been a newer reprint of the book). So, I decided if no one else was going to try and preserve this book, I might as well give it a shot.

"The Little Mermaid" as a story... even if the one book where the facsimile and annotations for the manuscript were only published in the 50s and reprinted in the 70s very briefly (before the original Manuscript for "Den lille Havfrue" was stolen from the H.C. Andersen House Museum by

So having someone who is far more familiar in that subject that could assist me would speed the process up immensely. The reason an amateur like myself is tackling this project, ultimately, is simply because I saw no one else attempt it and find it absolutely shocking given the fame of

essentially typos made by the publisher at the time when the book was written. This issue mostly crops up when there's dialogue (sometimes dialogue isn't fully enclosed in quotation marks), but also shows up in how some of the words are spelled. I am not nearly an expert to know for sure myself

The length of time will entirely depend on if I can find anybody willing to assist me (I specifically need someone familiar with how older Danish books were written so I can show them the Danish Transcriptions and see if certain decisions in the text either reflect the Manuscript itself or were

That being said, thank you for your suggestions, they do help give me some ideas on how to proceed with translating "Den lille Havfrue: Facsimile og Tekst"!

Hi, thanks for contacting me here! I do have a Reddit and Tumblr account already, so those won't be too much of an issue, though as you can see with my Bluesky I don't do a lot of communicating on social media (most of my communications happen via Discord and the server I run there).
