For anyone wondering how or why Pol Pot murdered 1/4 of Cambodia’s population, it was this. The Khmer Rouge categorised everyone as “New People” (city folk) and “Old People” (rural), and only the Old Peoples were true Khmer.

Thanks. It didn’t really occur to me until reading this that cinematic doesn’t actually equate to realistic in the sense of feeling that what I’m watching is somehow more “real”, even if it is a lot more carefully engineered. It certainly doesn’t make it more engaging.

I visited NYC a few years ago and my main memory of it is getting off the train from the airport and someone had taken a massive Welcome-to-New-York shit on the floor next to the ticket barriers

What infuriates me is that even though we have ample evidence that Russia illegally manipulated the Referendum, politicians of both major parties still treat Brexit as “the will of the people”.

Per the article, they’re doing it by polluting the upper atmosphere instead. There’s been no research on the cumulative effects of regularly using the atmosphere as an equipment incinerator.
