Just saw a post from an old coworker and mom of an autistic child. In her view, RFK is referring to severe and profound autistics (in the approx. 40%) like her child, not the ones that can speak up for themselves. Maybe RFK should be more specific.

RFK knows nothing of ASD. As an educator I have known many children on the spectrum who grow into young adults that are highly intelligent, toilet trained, communicate well, hold jobs, pay taxes, raise families, participate in their communities and VOTE!

Public school teaching staff are state employees. In Illinois, for example, a teacher can belong to our school district union, state of Illinois IEA and national NEA unions. Participation should be higher than it is.
