(that said, don't do art/writing *just* for recognition, because it's all algorithm/luck based nowadays - you should mainly be doing it for fun, and for yourself!)

Totally getcha, but I still think that stuff is worth sharing. I see rough sketches get shared and get appreciated a lot by others. You could start small, write a one-shot story just for fun and post it somewhere, then get into more ambitious things once you get into the groove

I felt this way for a while. I was jealous of fursuiters at first, but later found that my place is in art. Even if I'm not a popular artist I still really enjoy drawing.

You should def share your writing! i felt the same way you did over posting my art but found it's always worth it in the end.

Don't they usually make you cover shipping for those though? At least FWA does. I'm sure many are willing to pay extra to skip 3+ hour linecon especially in the worst of the summer (*coughs* Anthrocon).
