Local media is now reporting that these fires are arson, not prescribed burns.

Just for clarification, I’m not saying this one is out of control, I don’t actually have a visual on it today. It is a yearly prescribed burn on Walpole and on St Anne’s Island that I’ve seen for decades.

They have been burning the marshes this week on Walpole, may be a result of that. Usually at least one fire every year ends up out of control.
