Yes in the days gone by it's what I remember as a kid growing up.
Now for my son growing up, the sight of armed officers on the underground carrying assault rifles. Poor kid was scared to death.
Me? Didn't even bother me, my mum used to work in a cat a prison and seeing the armed escorts was a norm!

Hate to say this, but I think we have it mostly right in the UK. Police should be the only ones carrying guns on the street. 🤔
