To you, The End The light of the slowly fading sun tries desperately to grasp at your eyes, a final effort to continue to stretch vastly across the crimson sky as the shadows seem to bruise its way forward into the night. The wind holds itself against you, as if just a sigh. Contempt. Contemplative. An unease of just another reminder, in that just as fire from a campfire eventually peeters out from dancing all night, so too must an end come to this. You know this. You know this all the same of when we last met. And when I saw into those blazing eyes of yours- To me, The End. Ashen against the ground like the forests and cities that burned in your wake. I saw this, of myself. Of those I knew, those I love, those I hold dear. Your passion, unfiltered and unbridled with the rage boiling within you. None withstands your dancing fire, and when those confront it they all learn an inevitable truth. To them, The End. And so you grasp at that fading light, the flicker of a dying flame, the smoldering of a passion once lost. Just as the sun sets, and as the wind blows, so too comes the height of one’s success. Fading with the growing shadows to be enshrouded into an eventual loss of your surroundings. Never to arise the same as any bird of fire from your cold coals. Rather, to become something else entirely. You don’t see it, but I do. And when you do see it, you won’t recognize it the same way. For after all To you. The End.
