It's actually quite simple. Grandpa is sundowning again. Fragilego Mussolini is becoming more and more detached from reality, and if this were a normal America, the people around him would invoke the 25th Amendment. If this were ancient Rome, the Praetorian Guard would get out the daggers.

You know, the GOP could have been "never out of power," or at least in power for a generation. How? They could have presented all the evidence that the 2020 election was "stolen."

Instead, they settled into minority status without a fuss. That's how you know that THEY know it was all lies.

I guess he doesn't understand that when you put something in quotes that's not an actual quote, you're admitting that you know it's not "TRUE" or straight up sarcasm.

Or maybe he's just that far gone...

I used to work in media. I've been out for about 6 years since my job was downsized.

About a year ago, I saw a job listing at the biggest media company in the space. Was I qualified? In spades. The starting pay?

Identical to what I got paid when I started in that job. 25 years ago.

I've been fortunate enough to talk to a few astronauts in my life (including Wally Schirra and a couple who flew on the STS) and they all seemed pretty well convinced that we went to the Moon multiple times. To paraphrase Kim's ex, "Imma take their word for it."

He didn't mention it. He mostly talked about the table reads and the "standards and practices" people. Also, the man was a walking baseball encyclopedia who knew everybody.

He was very funny and down to earth. I'd worked with him before, but this time he told me stories about how he landed on Johnny Carson, his experience on Mr. Belvedere, and other tales. He had some fans come in and get selfies, but I never did. To me he was just Bob.

I never got to meet Don, but I did get to engineer a recording session with Bob "Just a Little Bit Outside" Uecker as he did ADR for an episode of "Teen Titans Go!" Because of a scheduling snafu, he was an hour early. So I got to hang out with "Mr. Baseball" for an hour shooting the shit.

It's depressing, isn't it? I mean, what's next? Banning the flu shot? Getting rid of antibiotics? Telling people who need insulin to survive to "just get over it" and take more vitamins?

I saw Maiden on the Powerslave tour, so I'm right there with you. This song? My adopted grandfather was an RAF flight instructor in the war and no doubt trained some of these "aces." He was also a classical musician, so I don't know for sure, but I'd like to think he'd appreciate it on some level

My mom is on the cusp of 87, and remembers a time when polio was a serious problem. Her generation lined up to get vaccinated, and my generation was vaccinated against polio, mumps, measles, etc. I had an MMR booster when my grandson was born. Vaccines are "well...duh" medicine.

I've liked him as an actor. He did a great turn as a villain in the CW's "Arrowverse" as Damian Dahrk...where his character MURDERED PEOPLE. He wanted to commit mass murder.

But he can't have a kiss with another actor who's not his wife?

Really? Really...

Seems pretty cut and dried to me. They sell their system as "Full Self Driving" but if you read the owner's manual it explicitly says (in the fine print) that FSD is NOT autonomous, and should not be treated as such. Something, something "talking out of both sides of their mouth."

I hadn't read Vonnegut in about 40 years, and so I got out my dog-eared copy of this book last year (when the tech company I worked for was being shut down and we had no work to do) and started reading.

I had forgotten how funny it was. I was laughing out loud in a nearly empty office.

Classic song. Seminal album. The band? Not great people. to put it mildly, and not terribly good musicians either. But then...that was kinda the gig, wasn't it?

FYI, if you want to hear what is - IMO - the perfect record as far as production, performance, and arrangement is concerned - listen to "If I Had Wings" from his debut country album. Make sure to wear headphones or listen on high quality speakers.

Aging cable TV action star from the 90s says what? Kevin's acting career is as dead as his character in "God's Not Dead." Also, notice that he uses a photo from the 90s, when in truth he's aging like milk from the 90s.

So we're doing the Dust Bowl, the 1929 Market Crash, and the Great Depression all over again, huh? Oh wait...we're also bringing back polio. So much winning! /s

b) "they're going to do all of this anyway no matter how we vote, so we must stand against this."

A government shutdown would at least gum up the system to the point where they couldn't continue mass firings because the staff wouldn't be there to process the paperwork.

If you have to go to a bookstore and try to patiently explain your decision while people who don't want a signed copy of your book are yelling at you, then maybe...just maybe...you're in the wrong.
