Density is what we need. We can't fix this issue if our focus is endlessly designing single family homes with large setback requirements, mandated parking, etc. We need to invest deeply in our cities and fix zoning so that density can actually exist. That can help so much of this deficit be met.

Hopefully this includes reducing the amount of roads we have! We have too many, and they are too wide. It is ridiculously costly to maintain and we have too little public transit investment in our state. Our reliance on car-exclusive travel at the expense of all other forms is bankrupting us.
