We conduct research in inorganic solid-state chemistry at University of Illinois Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory. Currently geeking about electrochemistry. Group posts, curated by Jordi.
Yeah, making sure the original author got credit with a screenshot. Here is the saved image.
LLMs continue to have challenges with sensical chemical structures. Some errors on that front the exam below, too

Look at those images if you teach chemistry. #chemchat
There are a couple of other mistakes, but big picture, it writes exams almost like a human (yeah, handwriting is too neat for an average student)

Probably not the most quoted portion of this podcast, but good point about the future of higher education in the era of AI, and the inevitable hype 🧪

Congratulations to Neelam Sunariwal and the other winners of the poster awards at the 7th Battery and Energy Storage Conference by ⁦‪AIChE‬⁩! Take a look at her poster in the picture if you want to know more about her work, and reach out if you have questions

Let’s take a step back and think about how we would have felt 10 years ago if we were told this was going to be possible:
“By Q4, China's EV sales will overtake total US vehicle sales of all types (gasoline, hybrid, battery electric combined).”
And with LFP batteries!

“What’s perhaps most interesting is that both China and the United States have slipped far down the list. Their change in per capita generation over those three years was basically equal”

You're looking at the future of #electrochemistry, the class of #NGenE2025. We conclude an intense week of discussions, networking and gelling of ideas. This group is ready to reach and conquer the frontiers. We can't wait to see what they do next! Huge thanks to ANL and UIC for the support.

The moment of truth has arrived! The #NGenE2025 participants are telling us what frontiers THEY think we must conquer as a community.

The last lecture of #NGenE2025 is on electrochemistry for nuclear energy, courtesy of Krista Hawthorne ⁦‪at Argonne National Lab‬⁩. True to this year’s slogan “electrochemistry for energy abundance”!

#NGenE2025 is off to a strong start with highly interactive lectures with Sue Babinec and ⁦‪Linsey Seitz, and visits to cutting-edge facilities. Participants are already noodling about the frontiers of research in #electrochemistry!

Quite the start of a thoughtful proposal for new ways to structure the research enterprise. Like they say, interesting throughout

“But if we want to reduce indirect costs more seriously, we also need to reduce the federal regulatory burden that causes universities to hire so many administrators in the first place.”

Are you at #F24MRS? Get up bright and early on Wednesday to hear the latest from our group on using X-ray imaging to quantify heterogeneity (CH04.08.01, 8-8:30 am). Key question: where should we look? Come find out!
