7/30 ✅ Gym progress update: second coat of paint. Putting mats in now. Putting B52 together tomorrow, and an electrician out here this weekend to add more outlets and mount TV. Should be done by Sunday.

Type 2 can sneak up on you, especially if you go too long without getting checked. If nothing else, hopefully this encourages someone to get labs done or listen to their body sooner than I did.

I’m not pretending I’m “done” with anything. I’m managing this one day at a time. But I’m in a better place, paying attention, and taking it seriously. Right now my focus is building endurance, getting stronger, staying consistent, and keeping things trending the right direction.

And on November 12th, just over a month after starting it, I took my last dose. Haven’t needed Lantus since.

I knew if I didn’t change things right then, I’d be right back where I started.

So I got serious about the basics: low-carb, high-protein, high-fat eating, no sugar or seed oils, whole foods only. Lifting again. Actually caring about sleep. I put on a CGM so I wasn’t guessing anymore.

I ended up spending 4 days in the hospital on an insulin drip and fluids until things stabilized, then they switched me to Lantus and fast-acting insulin before sending me home on the 5th.

On October 2nd, I finally went to the ER because I knew something wasn’t right. They checked my labs and told me I was in full diabetic ketoacidosis with a glucose of 788. Definitely not what I expected to hear.

the whole thing felt off in a way I couldn’t explain. I hadn’t had a physical in a few years, and I’d never been told I was prediabetic or anything like that, so none of this was on my radar.

So, back in late September, my body basically hit a wall. Out of nowhere I started dealing with bad cramping, trouble breathing at night, dry heaving, inflammation, zero sleep, constant thirst…
