The Republican idea of "Health Savings Accounts" is incredibly stupid. The idea that instead of having medical insurance people can just save up to pay for their heart attack (or other major medical crisis) is ridiculous. Would just lead to medical bankruptcy for millions of people.

I am very saddened to learn of the death of our former neighbor in East Hampton so shortly after the passing of her husband Peter. They were dear friends of ours and we enjoyed many Sunday brunches together.

If Republicans are using the 2024 election results as the basis for their gerrymandering, they could be in for a nasty surprise in 2026 if the 2025 swing to the Democrats holds. They could be spreading their support too thin in many Districts.

Every incumbent Republican up for re-election next year who didn't win by more than 5% is likely to lose.

The margins that Democrats are winning by tonight are evidence that Democrats can take the House next year (despite Republican gerrymanders) and take the Senate.

A few weeks ago a lot of the media under-reported the significance of the turnout at the "No Kings" protests. But tonight showed that several million people taking to the streets also translates to the voting booth.

Like many, I was horrified that Trump razed the East Wing of the White House. But what has me a bit puzzled is why was he in such a hurry to do it. I don't believe there are any actual blueprints for the ballroom, just conceptual models and sketches. No construction is starting immediately.

I am seeing a lot of media outlets highlighting other news stories rather the "No Kings" protest. I would have though that what appears to be the biggest anti-government protest in American history would be lead story everywhere. #NoKings

Asheville NC "No Kings" was a Saturday evening event. Turnout was even larger than the June event.

I am willing to bet that the number of uninsured citizens showing up in emergency rooms is far greater than undocumented immigrants. And when the Medicaid cuts and massive increases in ACA premiums kick in, you can bet emergency rooms will see a lot more uninsured citizens showing up.
