To be fair, I can imagine a scenario where some random person has never heard of you, stumbles on this post, misunderstands it, and in the context of their life misconstrues it as anti-immigration. It fits the default human condition and heuristic.

for certain, nearly by definition, true. Same with the "late stage capitalism" people though.

I agree "the time for moderation has passed". The pendulum has swung too far "against labor". It's simply not healthy or wise to sell or promote unions as an "absolute good". The bigger problem though is the dearth of education/critical thinking that has unions voting for DJT.

DJT is about to be sworn into office -again- and you think this other little quark is the sign?

Anyone that is against socialism is a moron. Equally, anyone that is against capitalism is also moron. Capitalism will exist - like it not - until all humans are dead. Socialism is a tool to tame or shape capitalism. For example - laws against murder infringe on the free market for assassins.

Incorrect. Capitalism is nothing more than humans fulfilling their based desires through cooperation with others. Sometimes it results in an optimization or efficiencies - sometimes it does not. These measurements are orthogonal to the underlying principle.

It will end when all humans are dead.

why is this written and posted as if NYC cost of living is the same as Wichita Kansas?

I hear you - the problem is that small and the weak can feel cornered or trapped by almost any obstacle. Then they lash out based on fear and self preservation. It makes them unstable and unpredictable. When trapped and scared he might try any stupid thing.
December 23, 2024 at 8:41 PM
You are breathing contradictions into the ideas. There are two type of regulations on a market - "Free markets" are "regulated" by the "invisible hand" of capitalism/base human desires. Formal regulations are socialism. "Efficiencies" are subjective and thus orthogonal to the base concept.

TBH, I know I'm a Pisces, but I never understood how this stuff is supposed to work.

I am a fan of logic, math, science, and evidence. Not really a fan of any individual people.

So vilifying one or the other is counter productive. Being anti-capitalism is effectively like being anti-gravity. Good luck with that. Being anti-socialism is like being anti-human or anti-preparation/organization. Either position is quite absurd.
December 17, 2024 at 1:24 AM
Socialism is like any machine used to "combat" gravity, like stairs, or ladders, or elevators. These are very good and effective things, but like anything, they can be over done. Like if you make a law that every person own two ladders and you have to take a ladder certification every year.
