We’re not. I think most everybody who lacks a financial interest in the USA status quo would say that an NHS-style system is a better approach.

The only thing I disagree with there is that it’s not economically optimal. Healthcare has what amounts to infinitely inelastic demand paired with zero competition at the point of use. I can’t think of a bigger market failure that’s even possible.

They’re raising tolls by $1bn to replace the money no longer going to roads via the gas tax. They’re not getting additional funding as I understand it.
