If you want a meritocracy you have to address the fact that a lot of people are born on third base and keep claiming they hit a triple. If wealth is based just on merit, how do you explain the poverty rates in MS and LA being highest in the nation?

Explain it like I'm 5. They want to exclude children of undocumented people from citizenship because of the "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" clause. I don't think that they really want to say these people aren't subject to their jurisdiction. Is it really that marvelously idiotic?

I know there were protests across the US today. I see images and video from people I know personally. I also know I don't see it being reported on the major news sites. The media is kneeling when we need them to stand

As someone who works in regional food systems, let me say that it's a good time to purchase a good pantry full of rice, beans, and other nutritious shelf stable foods. Start a garden if you can, and get to know your neighbors.
