📍Midwest 📚 Reader 🐶 Dog Mom 🏕️ Hiker

Having fun isn’t hard when you have a library card.

📖 Now Reading: Wrath of the Dragons by Olivia Rose Darling
Knee deep in the new Sarah Adams, In Your Dreams, and let me just say: THIS MAN YEARNS. 😍

I think I forgot why I love her so much as an author, but 15% in and I am HOOKED.

Kicking off the weekend by drinking a peppermint coffee and starting Backslide by Nora Dahlia.

Her last book, Pick-Up, was a favorite of mine in 2024. Really hoping this will bring the same charm 🤞

Reading a romance and (spoiler) at the end the FMC quits her job to become a full time writer. I’m sitting here asking “why not get married? She needs health insurance!”

… they were Canadian. 🤦‍♀️

When I see someone list “6-star reads,” I interpret it to mean that they aren’t a reliable source for 5-star reads. 😬

Sorry not sorry.

All done with work until 2026! 🎉

So ready to curl up under a blanket with a good book for the next 9 days. 🎄 📖

Has a book ever been written where a woman had to pick between a rich corporate guy and a Christmas tree 🎄 farmer where the right answer WASN’T the Christmas tree farmer?

(PSA if you want to swoon at a Christmas tree farmer: Big Nick Energy by Kristen Bailey)

Just finished Christmas Fling by Lindsey Kelk and pleasantly surprised to find out fake dating can still feel different.

Not often you get a fake GF whose entire goal is to be deeply unlikeable.

Light, fun, not that deep, holiday vibe ✅

Petition to rewrite all billionaire book boyfriends as either:

1) MacKenzie Scott (actively giving away their billions) OR
2) Multi-millionaires (no more than a 7-digit net worth)

No matter how well written they are, it’s hard to find them hot when they have unethical amounts of money.

Cold take: Libraries should give longer books longer loan periods.

I’m sitting with the Ron Chernow Mark Twain biography in my Libby holds and can’t bring myself to unsuspend when I look at the 1000 page length. 😬

Maybe between Christmas and NYE?

This Super Hot 'Book Lovers' Cast Rumor Has Fans In A Tizzy
Okay, after Netflix announced the People We Meet On Vacation cast would be led by Emily Bader and Tom Blyth, I knew that Emily Henry knew how to cast a movie (not that I ever doubted her, of course). ...

Finishing up Hate Me Like You Mean It by Kyra Parsi and this book has no business being this good.

First 25% was a bit “really??” for me but then the plot showed up and I was HOOKED.

EOY goal: I have a backlog of 13 #netgalley books and I’m going to finish them by Dec 31.

Now to not get distracted by all the other things I could be reading.

I finally finished Brimstone yesterday (🙌) and I think it was an improvement in Quicksilver but the ending left me a little confused.

No spoilers, but is this book people need to read twice to “get”? Is it just me?

TFW you finish a book less than an hour before Libby claws it back 💪

Relief = unmatched 😅

TY to all of the writers out there giving us holiday specials for their completed book series. 🎄 It’s sort of ridiculous but I’m eating up these nonsense novellas with a spoon.

All sequels should come with a short recap of the important points of the previous book as a prologue.

(I’m starting Brimstone and can’t for my life remember what happened in Quicksilver)

Sometimes, when a romance read has a lot of 🔥 and not much plot, it’s a problem.

Other times, it works. I cannot explain the difference.

Now reading Lana Ferguson’s new book The Mating Game and the smut : plot ratio is super high but… it’s working. Bravo, ma’am 👏👏👏

Who voted for this???

I often wonder who’s out there reading some of these really bonkers romance books.

Then I realize that I recently five-starred a romance with the ghost of Christmas past 👻 and have been itching to start The Mating Game 🐺 since it came out on Tuesday and… there you have it.

And now for the opposite side of the spectrum, a book that is exactly the fluffy Christmassy marshmallowy romance I wanted it to be: Christmas at the Ranch by Julia McKay.

Reading this book with a mug of cocoa is really exactly what this week demands.

Okay, so while vibe-wise Grace & Henry's Holiday Movie Marathon was not the cozy Christmas rom-com I was expecting, quality-wise it was far better.

Funnier than a book about grief should be. And still a bit of holiday romance just to keep some joy in the mix.

💙📚🌶️
December 3, 2025 at 3:22 AM
Fun fact about me: I frequently request books on Libby without reading the description and then am totally shocked by primary plot points.

Key example: I had no idea Grace & Henry's Holiday Movie Marathon by Matthew Norman was going to be largely about grief. Oops 🤷‍♀️
