The games in question have a target demographic that they are appealing to. And they’re very, very successful among that demographic. It's a shame that some people who want to beat these game cannot, but that's not anyone’s fault.

The same way a blind person's inability to play most (all?) platformers is not the fault of the devs of those games, the same way it's not a record label's fault that deaf people can't listen to their music.

The idea that it’s "ableist" to make a game that isn't for everyone is more than a little silly.
If someone has some sort of disability that makes them genuine incapable of completing Dark Souls (extremely rare), that is not a failing of Fromsoft to not accommodate that person.

The whole point of games like Dark Souls or Silksong is to keep running up against a difficult obstacle until you finally beat it. These games are based around that feeling of accomplishment that comes with overcoming difficulty.

In this case, if you give players a button that skips a difficult encounter, a significant number of players will press it the moment they feel the slightest bit challenged, not knowing that they're actively ruining their own experience by refusing to engage with the game and overcome the challenge

Players do not inherently know what the most engaging level of difficulty is for them, and they will gladly make it too easy when given the chance.

I remember when DMCV came out, there were a noticeable number of people saying the game was boring.
When I asked them what difficulty they played on, they said always said, without fail, "Easy-Auto".
As in, they chose the difficulty made to be braindead, and complained that it was braindead.
