Can’t emphasize enough that authors should listen to their gut. Got an offer from a new agent at a sketchy agency & was leery from the start. I’m SO GLAD I didn’t sign with them - the agent signed *dozens* of writers in just a couple months & their few sales are to imprints that take unagented subs

Another point in favor of divulging the name of the offering agent is that the other agents might be able to warn the author away from a schmagent/shady agent (which is essentially what ended up happening to me).
