I'd be very surprised if they didn't know about it ahead of time. And I'm guessing they were told that they would be required to invest some of their billions in tax breaks in Venezuela.

Your link didn’t work - I’ll find the article, though. 🌞

You’d think most farmers would understand the ridiculousness of it all . . .

Billie is spot on, and she puts it so simply - that’s the beauty of her question.

Trump’s crypto account, I’m guessing.

He's also doing a lot of favors for the corporate elite . . .

Leeches, anyone? Nice cover.

Trump also threatened to fire them if they objected to his remarks.

I know a few people who are mostly rational people, but they’ve bought into MAGA. They think that all of negatives you mention either aren’t really happening or it’s all part of the plan (that will somehow lead us to a better world). My take: they are frightened by and reacting to perceived threats.

Tariffs are a way of raising taxes (consumer and business) without actually calling it a tax. Tariffs reduce trade and will eventually reduce standard of living for most people in affected countries. The Trump tariffs won’t come close to paying for the tax give-aways to the rich.

There’s hope for us, then?

I’m surprised Trump agreed to meet Putin - he got nothing out of it and looked foolish.
August 16, 2025 at 1:28 AM
I’m surprised Trump is doing it - the chances of success are really low.

The passage could apply to any number of time periods. We might extinguish great numbers of ourselves sometime in the next 50 years (some will survive), but it won’t be because of this passage. It will be a plague (like the Middle Ages) or a nuclear war or climate change (like the dinosaurs).

That passage describes the history of humankind. Why is now any different or any worse?
August 8, 2025 at 7:15 PM
How do you know? There have been worse times that weren't The Last Days . . .
August 8, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Good point! What happened to the Stonewall Jackson statue?
August 6, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Haha. Fox fantasy.

Russia is weak . . . not gonna happen. If they drop a nuclear bomb, there won't be any Russians left to march anywhere. Maybe the ones in detention camps in Siberia will survive?
