If you played BG3 but were put off by the combat, give DOS2 a shot. It’s not beholden to D&D rules and I found it to be more creative with the combat systems.

How do you expect to survive the apocalypse without the fortitude to power through a double layer chalupa?

I really wanted to enjoy it, gave it a fair chance. Fundamentally it’s missing edge, there’s no chance for the player to make any moral decision or the longevity to live with that decision. It’s an rpg on rails with nice window dressing.
