RIP, Charles Strouse, the Broadway composer who had a gift for a catchy melody, spinning gold with lyricists Lee Adams ("Bye Bye Birdie," "Applause," "Golden Boy"), Martin Charnin ("Annie") and Stephen Schwartz ("Rags"). When I think of a show tune, I think of him. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDNq...

In an interview with DC Theater Arts, director Eleanore Tapscott discusses the relevance of "Alabama Story," a play addressing book bans and societal marginalization, highlighting its timely connection to ongoing issues of historical erasure and censorship.

One of the best plays of the season. A flinty and funny comedy about civil discourse, parents, trauma, and people who lead with their feelings rather than the facts. Powerfully specific and universal. A play for our times. Now on Broadway from playwright Jonathan Spector and Manhattan Theatre Club.

Why do so few Broadway shows have accounts on BlueSky? I get that it’s a new app but surely producers want fresh eyes on their shows and new streams — or even trickles — of cash toward box office. Same goes for regional theaters. Are we only tub-thumping in the same old places? #broadway #theatre

December 1 is World AIDS Day, when we remember those we lost, celebrate those with HIV who are healthy today because of science, and look to a day when HIV/AIDS is eradicated. I will never forget my dear friend Douglas Hugh Wright (1958-1993), an essential friend and mentor in my life.
