In 1776, while the Founding Fathers wrote about liberty, thousands of enslaved Black Americans fled. Not to join the revolution, but to escape it.

After the war, the Founding Fathers demanded the escapees be returned to slavery.

So much for “all men are created equal.”

Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
Poet. Novelist. Revolutionary with a quill.

The French mind behind Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Hugo wasn’t just here for sad boys and cathedral drama. He believed history wasn’t static—it was echoing forward. #History #BygoneEchoes #Quotes

Hotel Adlon isn’t just a hotel—it’s a ghost of empire, war, and rebirth. Built in 1907, burned in 1945, and reborn in 1997, it’s where opulence met apocalypse. Every gilded ceiling has seen something. If walls could talk… what would they say? 🏨✨ #BygoneEchoes #HotelAdlon #BerlinHistory

In 1918, a circus train was rear-ended by a speeding, empty troop train. 86 dead. The engineer was asleep. He was charged—never convicted. The circus reopened the next day. The grief? Buried under names like “Baldy" and "Unknown". #BygoneEchoesPodcast #History
