Did everyone survive the first days of school? We’re slowly adjusting to a new schedule, but luckily I think I’m the only one with the anxieties as the bus pulls away!
Kid comic page 1/2- A kid and parent walk on the sidewalk. Mom: “Here’s your stop!” Kid, thinking: “I hope we didn’t miss the bus!” Mom, holding up camera: “Say ‘kindergarten’!” Kid thinks “Or what if it’s super late and I miss the first day?! Or what if I forget to get off the bus and am stuck on there all day? How do I find my teacher? How do I find the bathroom? What if my sandwich is soggy at lunch?” The text in this thought bubble gets smaller and smaller as more worries pop into her head. Kid comic page 2/2: A voice from off panel says “Hey!” and pops the kid’s thought bubble. Another, older, kid appears and says “You look nervous! Have no fear! Fallow me, little duckling!” She escorts the young child, who looks up at her with heart eyes, onto the bus. The final panel shows them both sitting on the bus together. The yo g child smiles and waves out the window. Now the older kid has a thought bubble. “Is this shirt cool enough? Will any of my friends be in my class? Will I have to sit with this kindergartener every day this year?”

I’ve been working on a book with an evil porcupine character and started to wonder what she’d do if she received a #Valentine.

A kids comic! A porcupine sits at a table, about to bite into some cake, when a letter comes through the mail slot. “Who dares disturb cake time?” she says as she picks up an envelope with a heart stamp. She reads the note: “Porcupine, sweet porcupine, won’t you be my valentine?’?!” She opens the door to find a bunny there. “Was this from you?” “Umm, yes!” “Wait right here,” she says. With her hands behind her back, she says, “Bunny, bunny, sweet and kind, please accept this—Valen-SPINE!” She shoots a quill at the bunny like an arrow out of a bow. The bunny hops into the hedge saying “Yipes!”

How are your New Year’s resolutions holding up? As you can guess, I’m a bit behind on mine…
Kid comic strip: It’s New Year’s Eve, and a young firefly watches the others count down to midnight from his couch. “SIGH…another new year. This year I’m going to be daring, brave, and—of course—bright! Here I GLOW!” He joins the others just as the fireworks BOOM and he immediately turns back around. Safely back on the couch he says, “I meant NEXT year!”
