I guess we're talking at cross-purposes as I'd interpreted it as referring to the Windrush generation broadly rather than those who specifically arrived on the ship in 1948...and the 1948 act was aimed at addressing labour shortages anyway wasn't it, contrary to Starkey?

My guess would be a UN agency rather than country specific?

Would recommend looking at Lenovo's budget tablet range - the performance is obviously not stellar at this price point, but in my view they're fantastic value for money and should give more flexibility than a digital photo frame, eg www.argos.co.uk/product/7627...

More than a quarter of people think MPs expenses are one of the top three costs for government. A higher % than think the same for pensions or education.

Plus in my experience they can actually be quite helpful - a couple of weeks ago my railcard had expired the day before travel and I hadn't realised (obv entirely my fault). The inspector let me renew it on the app there and then before carrying on.

Enjoy it while it lasts - looks like there's a good couple of showers departing Calais for east Kent now

I got a Rangemaster oven with induction hob a couple of years ago - not cheap, but it seems very robust, as simple/analogue as it can be, and relatively repairable from what I can see. No issues with it at all so far!

It's a genuinely important part of how we get to net zero - smart electricity meters and smart appliances mean that eg your dishwasher or EV charger turns on at whatever time of day is both cheapest and greenest on the grid. Better balancing means less grid and generation investment is needed.
