This is a great point, Reese. A lot of what we do now regarding the climate may not be felt immediately, but it will surely affect others in the future or in neighboring provinces. This Riders game was especially a unique one, as it turned out to be one of the smokiest days of the whole summer.

This is an article that talks about how climate change is threatening the future of winter sports. In Whistler, Blackcomb Mountain is often the place for professional Skiers and snowboarders to train. However, due to the warming of the planet, Blackcomb Mountain has melted earlier than anticipated.

At the end of the 1968 olympics, sprinters Tommy Smith and John Carlos raised a fist during the United States national anthem. This silent protest sparked a movement against oppression in the country. Their brave gesture unified racial minorities all across the country and help spark a revolution.

Great response, Liam. Additionally I think this showed just how sport brings people together. It doesn’t matter what country you are from or what your background is when sport is involved. With the help of sport barriers are broken down and the individuals become extremely relatable to one another.

Agreed, Chase! Government support is sometimes all that is needed to kick start an athletic/sport program. With the help of the government a lot more young boys and girls can be exposed to sport and learn how much it can enrich their lives.

This is a great example of crowd violence, Colin. Things often get aggressive and boarder line violent when games are very close in score and spectators are consuming alcohol. Also doesn’t help that they have to cheer for Commanders and Giants.

Even in a single TikTok, we don’t quite realize the amount of media that it contains. From a content creator doing a dance made by someone else to a song made by a third party. Our media consumption in this day and age is tremendous.

I agree @chasemurray3.bsky.social! I love watching the UFC but find it quite difficult to access. The fights being moved to Paramount will allow for a lot more viewer ship and make the sport more accessible to the casual viewer.

Hey Chase! Something that should also be made clear is that this hit was a clear targeting call. Furthermore the player who made this hit was consistently hitting players like this, and was doing so with malicious intent. You are most definitely right in calling this a violent act.

I agree Liam, with both you and @chasemurray3.bsky.social. You guys make fantastic points. However, I can understand the emotion and competitive spirit Tyson was surely feeling. But yes, Biting his opponents ear is much too far.

This is a great post as it raises concern across all sports regarding throwing games and rigging competitions. In all major sports leagues, individuals have been caught and severely punished for betting on and manipulating their own games. This is surely a great example of deviance.

It's very interesting how almost all sports that use signals have had cases of opposing teams stealing said signals to gain a competitive advantage. I begin to question if teams protecting their signals, and other teams trying to understand them becomes a part of team strategy at some point.

In football, teams use hand signals to call in plays from the sideline. In 2023, the NCAA opened an investigation against UM football for stealing, deciphering, and using the signals so that they could have a competitive advantage and know what the other teams' plays were.

Aidan Hutchinson, a Detroit Lions defensive lineman, snapped his leg in a week six matchup against Dallas. While up 47-9, Hutchinson injured himself while sacking Dallas Quarterback, Dak Prescott. The question is, "Why was such an important player still in the game with such a large lead?"

This raises a question regarding athletes playing through injury. There were surely many factors that played a role in KD deciding to play. External pressure from teammates and fans, and the fact that it was the finals. It makes one wonder, at what point should an athlete not play through the pain?

Hey Colin, I can really relate to your post. I also feel like in my future sport will definitely become a hobby, but I would love for majority of my physical activity to come from sport rather than anything else.
