Music challenges and Norwich City (city and footy team)

Mastermind specialist subject: Pop music 1977~ 1980, as featured on Radio One

Owner of several copies of old Smash Hits and a duffle coat
PS i’ve never actually seen a Rocky film, but I did know about the steps. They are definitely different to the steps outside City Hall in Norwich. Tower Records was the same!

Hmm… My memory is it was pretty much the same as the one we’d been to in NY, Baltimore and Boston…

I want straight to the other AI!

It looks like they were never tempted to go with Django’s style, which I think is a bit of a shame because he could certainly teach them a thing or two about the wearing of a snazzy cravat 😎

😂

That’s as maybe, BUT! Did the Lee and the Upsetters realise the original source of inspiration was in fact the aforementioned Belgium? And as evidence I give you The wiki entry for the film! Apparently director, producer and co-writer Sergio Corbucci named the character in the film after him 👍😊

😳 I wasn’t saying it to give you an extra thing to do – just more in the context of Lucinda Williams keeps popping up!

Nearly the weekend 😊 This is one of my favourite post cards!

Me too! 😂 At least 7 I think!

I cheated!

Ah! Lovely pics 🥰 No sign of Bill Clinton outside that hall I suppose?

Don’t forget to pop into The Holy Shop for any religious or fancy goods you might need 👍

Oo! Derry? See if you can pop into The Undertones cafe!

👏👏👏 That is a cracking choice! And big bonus points for being spot on with the birthday 😊

Funnily enough, I heard this very track yesterday and was already admiring it. It popped up in an episode of Pick of the Pops I was listening to. Top chart and the screenshot couldn’t even fit in Sugar Sugar!

They make me think of stompy discos at school or in the village hall and posters in my Jackie Magazine. Happy days 🥰

PS Well I never! Jackie did a whole ‘Birthdays‘ feature! And there’s Brian - right underneath Gary Glitter 😳

Sigh! 🥰 I just had to go and find my copy of the LP!

I don’t think I know the JK one. I remember the one from Redbone. (Double points!)

That’s an excellent choice! Love it! 👏👏👏 Might you be interested in a challenge next month? Do folkies make songs about music? 🤔 I’m thinking of hosting a #MusicInMusic challenge if you fancy it! 😊

I’m thinking of hosting a #MusicInMusic challenge next month. Would you be interested? (No pressure, obvs!)

How does it sound? Can you think of anything that needs adding/changing?

🤔 No pluck needed - it’s a cracking single! 😁 I guess we all have music we enjoy and it’s not always the same as other's tastes, but it’s fun to see a variety represented. I proudly stand by my choice. It was after all, single of the week in Smash Hits - the acknowledged authority on these things 👍

It was a local band - often used as support to UEA gigs - called Laughing Out Loud (Lloyd Cole inspired, I seem to remember!)

Country songs are the worst! I had A Good Year For The Roses on my list. They told of grown-up troubles though so I didn’t necessarily connect with them at the time, in the same way I did with say Child. (I nearly picked that one too. I bet only me, the lads themselves and their mums remember it!)

That is the trouble with having such a perfect start! You have set the bar very high! I’ve no doubt you’ll get something fab, mind.

My initial research is not looking promising 😬
