The thing that's clear about HuGo - puck possession = defense. They are willing to give up size for the ability to retrieve & move pucks up, and keep them in the O-zone.

The mgmt has little appetite for Zadorov / Chiarot types. Del Gaizo isn't a guy you rely on to clear the crease either.

Engström is good insurance if a PMD goes down, agreed! I don't think the dudes in charge value Xhekaj types as much as the players (or fans) do.

Ha, I'm doing my best not to invoke #31 when talking about Fowler (or any goalie). That confident, calm demeanor in the crease sure does look familiar though 😉

So calm in net. Monty learned it, this year Dobeš has flashed it. Fowler just is that way naturally. And it will improve in the AHL. Teams build from confident tenders, he looks like that to me.

He was so great about it at the bench. I came away impressed at his poise - never saw a goalie lose so early in his first pro season & just kinda laugh it off while encouraging his veteran teammates. He sure looked like the real deal in those moments.
