Me and my lovely wife at the No Kings protest in Modesto, CA yesterday. Beautiful weather for a beautiful event with about 1000 beautiful friends and neighbors. None of Trump's shitbombs in sight--not a one.

One year ago this evening, I had an ST-elevated MI or "STEMI"-- in other words, a major heart attack. My "widow maker" coronary artery was 100% blocked and my left circumflex was 80-90% blocked.

Our lives, families, public schools, & health care are worth fighting for. We're drawing on the legacy of our labor & community movements to create a better future for us all. We have a winning record against billionaires who try to corrupt our democracy, target our families, & destroy our dignity.

The 15m & 10m bands are on fire this evening! Morse contacts in China, Asiatic Russia, Japan, Chile, & Argentina! Not bad for 100 watts into some wires draped from a tree in the back yard, and my old WWII Navy key.

I decided I needed a little ham radio after a long day teaching, and boy was this the right evening! 20 meter band was wide open - I made 18 Morse contacts in a little under an hour with just 5 watts and a ham stick mag-mounted to my car.

It was my pleasure to co-present a session on Podcasts with Abel Maestas (host of the Teaching That "Counts" Podcast) today at ETC! We had a great group of educators who weren't shy about stepping up to the mike and sharing their ideas & stories!

Update: The atmosphere was behaving a little better yesterday so my signal was picked up all the way in Tucson. Not bad for 5 watts!

Geek update! I took my new WWII-vintage key for a test drive on the airwaves this evening. Still a Morse novice but I thought, what the heck, why not send my call out there and see if anyone hears it?
Someone heard it! Well, someTHING heard it, at least... an automated reverse beacon in San Jose!
