Great to attend the opening of artist Jamie Holman’s latest exhibition at the Whittaker and thrilling to hear my research read by Jane Horrocks.

Richard Birtwistle was one of the earliest footballers in Blackburn forming Cob Wall FC in 1870. A founding member of Blackburn Rovers he also played for most of the early teams in that part of Lancashire including Darwen and Turton.
