Congress passes laws, not presidents. Fill up Congress enough to get what you want.

Don’t sit out and let Trump run over everyone because you’re pouting.

They all have Congress to deal with which will impede progress. Biden actually got a lot accomplished when he had Congress somewhat on his side, which was expected because he’s known for getting deals made.

The fantasy that some way left person is going to overcome Congress is just fantasy.

This statement is detached from reality. But, as we’ve learned in this era, everyone gets to make up their own facts.

Staying home or voting third party allowed Trump to win. Actual harm to actual people ensued.

Tell your fantasies to the people he’s actively terrorizing.

This is such a bad take. Clinton, Biden, and Harris were all fine. In comparison with Trump, they were excellent options.

People that abstained, whined they weren’t liberal enough, etc put us in the position we are in now.

The choice was clear: decent or insane. They didn’t choose decent.

He hasn’t sounded coherent or sane in years. How would they even discern the change in behavior?

The 13th only partially outlawed slavery. It’s still legal for incarcerated people, and that exception is heavily exploited.

Christianity has always been used that way, and for much of history, it was the church itself doing it, not just the state.

I still subscribe to the Economist because it’s less sensationalized than a lot of the others are now. Just give me the news and don’t sensationalize or turn everything into clickbait.

The news should be boring and isn’t entertainment.
April 29, 2025 at 2:34 PM
There are hordes of uninformed “influencers” happy to “inform” people for clicks and ad views. If quality news is behind paywalls, the masses will only know what influencers tell them.

It’s not right or good, it’s just where we are now.

Hasn’t been about that in over 200 years.

I ditched my Nest as soon as Google bought them.

Agenda setting is important. You have to put ideas into the public sphere and get them into the discussion in order to get them to happen.

The stuff this admin is doing has been warmed up by them pushing it and talking about it for years to get people okay with it.

Dems need to play the game.

Canada - many of us Americans need to see you vote against Poilievre and what he stands for. We need hope and to see that those politics aren't winning.

(Also, we may need a safe space to seek asylum soon)

It’s against my religion for Alito to have any influence on anyone. It violates my religious freedom to hear anything he thinks.

Have you seen a bell curve?

I thought getting tested and diagnosed was helpful in understanding myself. Now, I see it’s going to put me on a list I definitely don’t want to be on.

Doesn’t need to be anecdotal - bookings for cargo ships bound from China to US have dropped more than they dropped during covid.

Did they miss April 1st? Or, were they just in a timezone where 4/20 had already started?

Yarvin is one of the "intellectual" leaders of this administration's lunacy. Vance, in particular, loves his writing.
April 20, 2025 at 11:28 AM
There's no reasonable way to have come to the original decision to support him. It's hard to chalk the retraction up to anything other than a response to customer backlash - Burgum hasn't changed.

You chose genocide and fascism instead of mere genocide (your assessment, not mine), and now you're on here acting like you have some kind of moral high ground? (Pretending voting third party or not voting didn't aid Trump's win is a failed argument)

You don't have the moral high ground here.

Hollywood is generally perceived to be liberal. I imagine Trump is entirely fine with this.
April 9, 2025 at 12:30 PM
It was never their bedrock. Their bedrock has always been "power is rightfully asserted only where we hold power." They've been pretty transparent about that.

I’m not inclined to leave and have to come back through customs right now. They do not appear to be acting in good faith.
