This poem, "The Farthing Peace," is in Jo Walton's alt history novel, Ha'Penny. In this novel, the Farthing Peace was a deal made by the group of politicians known as the Farthing Set. They made a deal with Hitler after he had bombed Britain, & pulled out of the war. This is how I'm feeling today.

Tybalt, the lighter colored cat, is a king of cats, names for the character in Seanan McGuire’s Toby Daye series. Maia, the dark torbie, is named for the anthropomorphic star in the Mary Poppins book.

I adored this and still do. When I was a kid, she had not written the sequels, but my library had her books about the Austin family. They weren’t fantasy, but I still read them over and over.

Today’s infuriating snippet from #Project2025

I guess we’re redefining the word “special.”

I am only on p. 48 (of 920) in #Project2025. One of the things that makes it so difficult to read is the hypocritical tone taken throughout. They write to poor working people as if they were poor working people. And it’s full of gems like this: did you know that “wokeism” = slavery?
