The fact that Voortman & de Vos fail to detect an acceleration of sea level rise is not because it is not there. It is because they are blinded by the noise, hence not seeing the signal. E.g. they don't remove the effect of pressure and wind on the data.

The Trump-commissioned DOE report commits three fundamental errors regarding hurricanes:
1) searching for trends where none were predicted
2) neglecting important variables for which trends were predicted
3) mistaking the noise for the signal (absence of evidence =/ evidence of absence)
