"Thanks, gang! Gather up!" Everyone shivers with anticipation as Oluwande claps his hands. Ed wonders how one man, or one business, can orchestrate a crowd like this. It can't be as simple as luring them with a piece of cheese. There has to be something that holds this kind of influence, and Ed doesn't think it's the whales. "Please join me in welcoming for his Whale Festival debut..." Oluwande pauses, and he grandly raises his arms. "The Gentleman Guide: Stede Bonnet!" The Gentleman Guide? Fascinating. What kind of tour guide has a stage name? Ed's chest jitters as he hears footsteps from below the jetty. Okay, maybe he's hyped up this Stede a bit too much. It'll probably be some guy in a clean white sailor's uniform telling everyone to wear their lifejackets, keep their hands off the rails, make sure there's enough room for two people to float on the door after the boat hits the berg... Oh, fuck. A sunny-haired man steps up onto the jetty and beams at the crowd, spreading out his arms, his arms, his fucking arms, which are covered by a black thermal top that's tight enough to reveal the lines of his biceps. But those delicious-strong-arms are not the only revealing feature. The top has a few buttons undone, and if Ed squints his eyes, he can make out a few long, delicate golden hairs bouncing out in the early morning light. They dust over the dents of his collarbone, tangled in the silver chain and shark tooth necklaces resting around his thick, sturdy neck. There's enough to make Ed picture the shape of the man's chest, the size of his pecs, and the faint curves of his stomach. But that picture almost gets thrown away, almost, because the man is also wearing the most ridiculous and gorgeous shirt Ed has ever seen. It's a short-sleeve, button-up shirt as blue as the deepest midnight, with white, star-like dots that flow like waves and form something resembling a humpback whale. And it's so outrageous and daring that it makes Ed's eyes water, not because it hurts, but because he is unable to blink and miss a second of this man's, of Stede's, aura that feels like heatwaves in the winter frost. My last #WIPWednesday before my #OFMDBB25 is posted on the 24th. This fic is an homage to a place that is very special to me. With that in mind, please enjoy some koalas. 🐨❤️
Tucked away among the trees are several koalas sleeping peacefully with very little disturbing them. There's one curled up into a ball as it holds onto a thin branch, displaying remarkable strength as the branch bounces in the breeze. Another has a sturdier support, nestled in the curve of a tree and resting its arms and head on an extending branch. It Over towards the right, there's a koala that appears to be awake. Alma and Louis notice it first, and they scurry over to see it climbing up a blackwood tree that overlooks some wetlands in the distance. The koala pauses and digs its claws into the tree, lifting its head towards the sky and basking in the sunlight that flashes through the dangling eucalyptus leaves around it. Alma and Louis watch on for a bit, waiting to see if the koala does anything more. As the koala keeps enjoying sitting up in the leaves and the showering warmth, they soon grow bored, or at least, Louis does, for he bolts to the other side of the platform with Alma hurrying after him. After they're gone, Ed takes a step closer towards the hanging koala, resting both his hands on the railing and lifting his head towards it. The koala suddenly turns its head as if it had heard him, and Ed's breath goes still. He stares into the koala's dark eyes, and the koala slowly blinks at him, holding his gaze before eventually looking back up at the sky.

Another #OFMDBB25 tease for #WIPWednesday, and Ed is having trouble standing…😁🐳
“Turn around, Edward.” Ed swallows even harder. He shuffles around until he’s facing Stede, and his good leg almost buckles from under him, causing him to grab the sink from behind. “Very good,” Stede breathes, nodding at the sink. “Sit there for me.” Ed breathes out with a shudder, and he perches himself on the sink. At this height, he’s a few inches shorter than Stede, and Ed can only stare up at him with large, slow-blinking eyes. “Thank you, Ed.” With a flutter of his lashes, Stede softly pinches Ed’s chin, and he lifts the soaked towel to his cheek. Ed doesn’t want to breathe, for even breathing could risk ruining this moment. He tries to place his focus on something, and finds himself staring into Stede’s golden eyes. He watches the way they slightly flicker as they trace his face, and how they sharpen once they focus on a spot, glinting in the light. Every so often, Stede notices Ed staring at him, and when their eyes meet, it sends so many flutters in Ed’s stomach that he wants to catch the butterflies and let them fly to fill the space with delicate wings and his total adoration. “There we go…” Stede soon lowers his hand, and Ed softly settles back on this plane of existence, still staring up into Stede’s eyes like they’re the birth of a new galaxy. “Look at you,” Stede says, releasing Ed’s chin with a proud smile. “Just as lovely as I’d remembered.”
