Wow, this is very cool ! I don't like what Canonical does with Ubuntu most of the time but this a huge advancement towards getting people on board easily and without as much workflow disruption as before

I've had a pretty different experience with BSDs on the desktop
FreeBSD always got in the way and was a pain to set up, meanwhile OpenBSD just worked most of the time. Sadly the battery life took a huge hit compared to linux and I just couldn't keep using it
