The only repeatable indicator for predicting where teams will finish each season is the wage bill. That’s where to draw the par in my view and judge over the course of the full season. Otherwise we’ll just lurch from one result to the next.
November 29, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Maybe the most realistic test should be where the team finishes at the end of the season as versus a reasonable expectation for a team with a midtable budget.
November 29, 2025 at 6:20 PM
Yep. My great beard is just a ruse.
November 25, 2025 at 6:47 PM
I’d pay my season ticket price again to the same end*

*I might not actually if the Albion intend to hold me to the offer (threat)
November 25, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Rightly so
November 22, 2025 at 8:49 PM
You definitely have been on the pop. I’m sure you’re right though.
November 22, 2025 at 8:15 PM
I mean it’s only two hours
November 22, 2025 at 7:50 PM
That’s hardly helpful for some of us is it? 🙄
November 22, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Yes. I think though that’s in part the way managers are trained to deal with the media these days. I don’t know though.
November 22, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Yes mate. You’re 100% correct. Still if I’m going to pick a new team, I might go for one a wee bit closer to home 😉
November 22, 2025 at 5:31 PM
We appointed him in the first place on blind faith but I take your point. I’m just not sure I’ve seen enough yet one way or the other. And yes, equally, my opinion counts for nothing. Some of the language used by others to support sacking him seebe reactionary which is seldom a good sign
November 22, 2025 at 5:27 PM
I don’t think the case to sack him is as proven as many are saying. The form is worrrying admittedly but losing there 3-2 today I don’t think changes anything.
November 22, 2025 at 5:10 PM
My point was that if the failure to sub Molumby at half time is evidence of Mason’s so called incompetence, it must be evidence of the same for CC, TM too.
November 22, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Just to be clear, I don’t advocate sacking him. I was joking. But you are right, wasn’t a surprise that Molumby was an idiot, no. But presumably you were for sacking the previous three managers that suffered the same from him? All far more experienced, with more common sense than Mason.
November 22, 2025 at 4:33 PM
No. You’re right. I have no common sense. That’s where I’ve been going wrong. Just sack him and move on to the next one, like you say.
November 22, 2025 at 4:19 PM
What is your expectation this season realistically? League position I mean. We’ve *all* been spoilt. Season after season our squad was decent enough to have a realistic expectation of a high finish. This season the squad doesn’t justify that level of expectation.
November 22, 2025 at 4:15 PM
He’s four months into his managerial career. He’ll get things wrong. We’re on different sides of the same set of facts. He did make the subs earlier. You didn’t like the subs. Fair enough z There are mitigating factors for all of this but no one’s interested. Default cry to sack him is premature

November 22, 2025 at 4:04 PM
There is some evidence he is learning. But no one seems willing to see it. Not attacking enough - puts a team out that scores two at a very solid defence least ar home. Subs were questionable but he made them (having been criticised for not doing so). Criticism is fine but pile on is premature.
November 22, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Would the impartial observer might be equally baffled by the fact you feel the need to qualify your observation that he is ‘learning his trade’ as charitable? That’s a statement of fact, surely. I have addressed the criticisms too. I’ve offered different points of view (dismissed readily).
November 22, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Ok mate. We can agree to disagree.
November 22, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Sure it’s a narrative. Blame the manager for everything (including poor individual performances). Blame him for all that goes wrong despite the fact he’s inexperienced and the squad is bang average. It’s far too early to talk about sacking him. What an entitled fan base we’ve become.
