Mental health: 1) Ruminating over a punt is completely understandable. But make sure to use those moments as lessons on how you can improve in the future. 2) As you get better, your goal post will shift. Don’t forget to acknowledge your strengths and how far you’ve come as you strive to get better.

Physical health: 1) tournaments usually don’t have meal breaks. Bring plenty of snacks and water and remember to refuel! 2) if you ever need to use the restroom and there’s a chance the next round will start while you’re still in there, tell a judge before you go!

Spectators: If you are one of the last matches in a round, chances are that there will be spectators. It’s absolutely okay to ask for space if people are crowding around too close or to ask for people to keep their conversations quiet to avoid distracting you.

Judge calls: 1) If you want to call a judge, do it! It is not rude. 2) If your opponent suggests a take-back or something else that makes you uncomfortable, it’s okay to let them know you’re going to call for a judge. I’ve learned that doing this often makes my opponent correct themselves.

Sealed pool registration: 1) sort by color, then alphabetize, then register 2) keep that one pile of cards in that order for easy validation 3) confirm with the person registering your pool that they will do the same. I hate using too much deck building time to check my pool is registered correctly.
