ultimately it feels like its using 'class struggle' and 'materialism' as just fun words to mean a different rhetorical strategy we should try rather than an actual set of actions with actual impacts on things beside academic essays

Which, if anything, undermines her point. We've been having these same bad acadamic takes for as long as modern sexology and gender studies has been around, and yet the backslide only started like a decade or so ago.

If your theory of everything can be broken apart by taking any random crosssection of an actual queer bar and you need to begin caveating the second it hits asphalt then maybe lets just actually talk about specifics and individual experiences

Ofc we all have differences in lived experiences but the venn diagrams are too fucking messy, the lines are too unclear, you can't create a functional set that includes everyone you want while excluding those you don't, so trying to create unifying theories based off these labels will always fail

Exactly. At its base level a label is useful for describing a unique experience or modality of living and i simply don't see any evidence that each individual label under 'the trans umbrella' is functionally distinct enough to begin atomizing ourselves over.
