BUS STOPS MORE THAN 6 YEARS OUT OF DATE
In 2018, Stagecoach West renumbered its Swindon–Oxford route from 66 to S6.

In 2020, @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social reinstated route 63.

The stops at Petypher Gdns, Witney Rd, Kingston Bagpuize, are more than 6 years out of date.

In five miles of route that we inspected, only one stop advertises route 24. It is at Lathbury Road northbound on Banbury Road. But it has no Grayline route 24 timetable, as its @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social timetable case is broken!

At several stops, the numbers of some routes are displayed in characters too small for many people to read. At one of the stops at Park Town on Banbury Road, the numbers of four routes are in tiny characters. @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social should provide a sign big enough for full-size numbers.

Grayline's timetables for route 24 are simple, clear, & easy to read. But some of them, such as these at Summertown Shops and Thorncliffe Road, have fallen down inside the timetable case, or been stuck at a drunken angle. A vital rural bus deserves better publicity than this!

Putting up timetables is a bus operator's job. Grayline posted them at most stops on route 24. But it missed both stops at Bramley Close, Gosford. These still have timetables for the previous operator's route 250, which @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social withdrew in 2023. Two years out of date!

The stops outside Sainsbury in Gosford have no bins. On one side of the road, waiting passengers drop their litter on the verge. On the other, one of the timetable cases is broken, so they their stuff litter into it. Either @cherwellcouncil.bsky.social or Gosford Parish should install bins.

Magdalen Street in Oxford is not the only place where @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social advertises the route 25A "ghost bus". It still appears on the bus stops in both directions outside Sainsbury in Gosford, where the number should have been changed to 24. So both stops are six years out of date.

This stop in Magdalen Street is one end of route 24. In 2018 route 25A was renumbered 250, so this sign is more than six years out of date. In 2023 @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social replaced route 250 with route 24, but failed to update the sign. And it has let the green name band fade to illegibility.

This is another stop at Summertown Shops. Around the end of 2020, Charlton Services withdrew route 94. But it is @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social's job to remove the number 94 from bus stops. And in many cases, it has not done so. This is at least four years out of date.

This is one of the busy stops at Summertown Shops. In 2023, @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social withdrew route 250 & replaced it with route 24. But at many stops, OCC has failed to remove the number "250". And at even more stops, OCC has failed to add the number "24". This is two years out of date.

BUS STOPS 6 YEARS OUT OF DATE
@oxfordshirecc.bsky.social updating of bus stops has collapsed. Inspecting 39 stops between Gosford & central Oxford, we found only four on which the route numbers were up to date. And the routes that have not been updated are those that you subsidise with your taxes!

But @oxfordcitycouncil.bsky.social, Lincoln Road shelter was in the wrong place in any case, for several reasons.

Please consider siting a replacement on the corner of Sunningwell Road; where there is more room for people; & it is less likely to be hit by a vehicle!

15 MONTHS TO FIX A WRECKED BUS SHELTER?
Residents say Lincoln Road bus shelter on Abingdon Road, Oxford, has been a twisted ruin for at least 15 months; since October 2023. It is crash-damaged; roofless & useless. @oxfordcitycouncil.bsky.social please get it removed!
