There's always the smaller scale skirmish games like Killteam. Or, tabletop wargames that aren't GW. Some are even cheaper.

For me, Gunpla also scratches the itch. You get to make your own toy robot no paint necessary in most cases and cheaper.

Kaijin refers to smaller than the city sizes, including human scale. Your sentai and kamen rider monsters are Kaijin.

Daikaiju refers more to cosmic scale horrors and monsters. Stuff like Hellstar Remina might be a Daikaiju.

But I'll happily be corrected.

☝️🤓 I know I'm going to be "third panel guy" here a little bit, but as I understood it Kaiju does in fact refer to the mid sized city destroyer. IIRC it's based on when it was introduced to Japanese society.

The other "size ratings" thus use city breaker Kaiju as the baseline.
