Skills will come with time. If you try to draw more often and use references, progress will be faster and more noticeable. You can simply do quick sketches without details, just to capture the figure and anatomy.

If you don't count the breaks, the whole picture took about 8-9 hours. But I rarely draw everything in a day, so the work stretched out over four days.
