My father’s father’s family is from “probably Poland at some point because of the name”

After seeing the 2011 “The Thing” prequel I developed a heuristic for this kind of movie where it didn’t need to exist at all, but taking it as axiomatic that it existed when it did, was it the best plausible version of itself? Or did it commit *unforced* errors?
