Marriage/relationships are like fish, in that there isn't a clear definition, but everyone has their own idea of what they are
Aside from tv/movies which basically force the idea that the only way 2 people have a relationship is between the sheets, everything else is a ploy to get there :rolleyes:

So during the big online fan translations in 2014ish when western fans were translating Chinese webnovels, this whole debate came up, computers just can't translate anything non technical
Like sure it can recognize say, "salted fish" but translating that into a way that westerners understand? Nah

I'm being somewhat facetious / joking but why don't we just get rid of all marriage entirely from legal standpoint. You just need to make it so people can designate beneficiaries and inheritors from legal standpoint, then let people do what they want with regards to labeling thier situation.

"Never say never" and "there are no cats in America" Live permanently lodged in my brain, I can almost guarantee you that when I have dementia and I'm in a home the nurses will be able to sing just a few notes of those songs and it'll activate me like a sleeper agent to finish it ;)
